Doya calls itself a modern Aegean meze restaurant, plates from Greece and Turkey, cooked mostly over wood fire and coals, meant to be shared. It’s earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for good reason: the cooking is confident, the ingredients are treated simply, and almost nothing on the menu is boring. It sits in the heart of Wynwood, indoor bar seating or the garden patio out back, and it’s become the one restaurant we recommend without a single caveat.
At this point we’ve ordered nearly everything on the menu across a year of monthly visits. What follows isn’t a one-time impression, it’s the dishes that keep earning a spot on the table every time.
What we always order
The regulars’ order
Branzino Ceviche
Red onions, peppers, scallions, orange, lime, mustard sauce. Bright and always the right way to start.
Greens & Fig
Feta, watermelon radish, hazelnut-pomegranate dressing. One of the best salads in the city, not just at Doya.
Spicy Yogurt
Char-smoked shredded potatoes, burnt butter, Turkish long peppers. This is the favorite, full stop. Order it every time.
House Pickles
Mixed vegetables in brine. Small, simple, and always on the table.
Manti
Beef dumplings, garlic yogurt, burnt butter, paprika. Comforting in a way most meze menus don’t attempt.
Roasted Cauliflower
Tahini, pomegranate, paprika sauce, scallions. Converts people who claim they don’t like cauliflower.
Brussels Sprout
Pomegranate sour, hazelnuts, scallions. The char on these is exactly right every visit.
Wood Fired Chicken Thigh
Onion and sumac, cherry tomatoes, mint, arugula. Simple, but the wood fire does all the work here.
Whole Grilled Branzino
Extra virgin olive oil, lemon. Nothing hiding a fish that’s actually good, which is the whole point.
Short-Rib Baklava
Strained labneh, Gaziantep pistachios, kasseri cheese. Don’t let the name fool you, this is a savory short rib dish shaped like baklava, not dessert. That twist alone makes it one of the most unique things on the menu.
Doya Grill Board
Lamb chops, kofte, chicken thigh, baby wings, adana, fries. The move for a bigger group that wants to try everything at once.
Pistachio Ice Cream
Made in house, non-negotiable. This is, without exaggeration, the best ice cream in Miami. Order it every single time, no matter how full the table already is.
Who it’s for
Everyone. That’s not us being lazy with the answer, it’s genuinely true. Doya works for a first date at the bar, a big celebratory group in the garden, a solo seat at the counter watching the wood-fired grill work, or a quick weekday dinner. The vibe is warm and unpretentious even with a Michelin nod attached to it, and the shared-plates format means there’s very little risk in bringing someone whose taste you don’t know well yet.
